THE TANK CHALLENGE - AUTUMN 2010
Top Gear
Looking forward to spending quality time with Thomas and learning more about tanks etc.
Maybe Purley Power
This is our 3rd Wacky Scrap Races season. Originally we were Purley Power but this season we have combined forces with M& M Racers to make Maybe Purley Power. Our children go to Purley infants, Thomas 6 and Daniel 5 with Chris 16 who goes to school in Bexhill on sea.
Fifty Niners
Dad 50 and son 9, hence the team name . At one on occassions and would like these moments to last as long as possible.
The Shaws
We joined to have fun and learn new skills. Douglas attends Westwood Farm School, Matthew is a locksmith and works installing automated gates. We are both good at making things and enjoy craft activities.
The Wright Battalion
After enjoying making a boat so much, we are back for another challenge. Our team consists of Thomas aged 6, Benjamin aged 7 and mum Carole. Dad David rows on a Saturday morning but will join us when he can.
The Bracknell Builders
Catriona (mum) and Jacob (7) joined as Jacob loves building things and finding out how things work. His daddy was a scientist at Jealott's Hill and was always very good at helping Jacob take his designs to the next level. Sadly his daddy died suddenly and unexpectedly in September, so I am hoping Jacob and I can have fun building things together, keeping David`s influence alive in our family and nurturing our budding scientist!
This term we have two new additions to our team, Bill and Joan(Grandad and Grandma).
Tantastic Mannings
We are the Mannings family and we heard about this event at my daughters school Whitchurch Primary School. We are looking forward to taking part and hope to have lots of fun!
Bailey Bashers
Marcus`s keen interest in tanks and a desire to build things led our family to enter Whacky Scrap Races this year. Interest from both Marcus and Megan grew following a presentation at their school.
Intervention
Our team intervention would like to learn and do different things. My team members Shabarish goes to Reading School and Shraddha goes to Coley Primary School. We enjoyed the first day as it was really exciting to make a tank which worked fine. We look forward for the new challenges in the coming weeks.
Cat Scrap
Enjoyed the last theme on boats which was our first time here so decided to come back for another term.
Kat Kit
Thomas likes military and army things and would love to make a working tank.
Clever Cheetahs
This is our second time here. We are very happy and excited about the new tank challenge after enjoying the boat challenge. This project is really very well organised and a great learning experience.
Team Gibbins
Hudson Harriers
Great fun, lots to do and well structured but with freedom to do what you want. Great support from everybody.
Minty Mouse
Team Warren
Mutley crew
Rowlinson
Extreme Team
Team Tornado
Speedy Snails
The Martins return once again to take up the recycled challenge of tank building. Desperate to win the coverted "Wooden Spoon Award" at our seventh attempt. Thank you for allowing our family to invade your space on a Saturday morning to take pictures of you to showcase the challenges on the fun packed website.
Blast Off Bannings
THE BOAT CHALLENGE - SUMMER 2010
The Streatley Pirates
Benjamin (aged 7), loves Scrapheap Challenge and when he heard about Whacky Scrap Races he encouraged Carole (mum) and Thomas (aged 5) to become part of his team. Carole and Thomas were not very keen so they were very surprised that they really, really enjoyed the first session. The whole team is now feeling very enthusiastic and is thinking very hard about the challenge. David (dad) rows every Saturday morning on the local rivers but we are hoping to encourage him to join us at a couple of sessions.
Speedy Snails
The "Martin" family are looking forward to their sixth challenge, after finishing third in the rocket launch task.
Look out for Chloe taking some pictures so you can all have your own team page, where everybody can put names to faces and make Saturday mornings more interactive.
Fabulous Baker Boys
Hi, we`re the Fabulous Baker Boys. Mum (Sharon), Dad (Steve), Sam(10) and Matthew(6). Matthew and Sam go to Streately school. Big fans of the t.v. programme ,"Scrapheap challenge", Sam and Matthew came home from school very enthusiastic after a visit from the Whacky Scrap Challenge team. Now we`re really enjoying working together on our boat and learning some new stuff at the same time!
Team Gibbins
Julie Gibbins (mum) and Matthew (7). This is our 6th Whacky Scrap challenge. Matthew, a pupil at Long Lane Primary, is excited to compete against his brother James and his dad as we have split our original team. Hence the name "Not Another Team Gibbins". Matthew is happy to collect his own "Childrens University" hours now he is old enough to do so. We joined to help James who is currently in year 6 to get used to his new senior school and it has really helped as he is now familiar and excited to start in September 2010. Matthew loves looking through the shop to find bits to make and build activities.
Running Rockets
We are a small team, consisting of Julia and her dad Chris. There`s only 2 of us because Julia`s little brother is too small and goes to the creche instead. We came to the trebuchet building WSR to give Julia`s mum a rest on Saturdays, so this is our third event. Our proudest team moment was winning the coveted `wooden spoon' at last term`s rocket building exercise. A great achievement as we were the only ones whose rocket went backwards! We also love the recycling as it allows us to clear some junk out of the house.
Dolphin Dickinsons
Mum Catherine,Lauren and Anna
M & M Racers
Good to see Christopher with mum Janet back for the boat challenge.
Not Another Team Gibbins
Just when you thought Dave had left the arena after five successful challenges, he is back to see who has the brains in the family.... Joining him is his son James. It`s a great way to learn about different types of sciences. We have done 6 events and enjoyed each one. Each event introduces us to new sciences which the children enjoy learning about building models to test theories makes all the science make sense.
Clever Cheetahs
A new team joining in this term,a big welcome to Advait with his dad Atul. This is a great project and are enjoying it a lot.
Dragon Raiders
Rob, Rodney and Alex.
Team Tornado
Socrates, Andre, Iain and Jamie.
Castoff Bannings
Sallie Banning (mum), is not very creative by her own admission, but is trying to learn. Mark (dad) currently works on a Saturday but from September onwards will be joining us full time, a good engineer. Harry (9) attends Birch Copse Primary and 79th Reading cubs, very creative with lots of ideas. Loving Whacky Scrap Races! David (4) goes to the creche and enjoys it a lot.
Mighty Mutant Moose People
Tanya and Ryan 9 Despite living in Caversham we travel the two bus journeys every week. When i walked in the hall the first thing i noticed was that all the other groups had men in them,,oh er,,but this just made me more determined to do well. When Ryan shouted "yes, I cant see the jelly cube its gone miles" i thought yes we.v done great,,then i looked down and noticed it was stuck to the trebuchet!!!!! Coming here gives me quality time with Ryan when my daughter is with her dad,,i may no nothing about Rockets or boats but who cares as we have a laugh.
Cardboard Box Town Rovers United
Duncan, Anna, Douglas and David.
Llewellyn Clan
Karen, Jordan and Alfie.
Bracknell Boat Builders - Catriona and Jacob
Catriona (mum) and Jacob (7) joined as Jacob loves building things and finding out how things work. His daddy was a scientist at Jealott's Hill and was always very good at helping Jacob take his designs to the next level. Sadly his daddy died suddenly and unexpectedly in September, so I am hoping Jacob and I can have fun building things together, keeping David`s influence alive in our family and nurturing our budding scientist!
